Announcements for the Week Ending October 27, 2006
Fall Concert Postponed
The fall concert for October 26th has been cancelled and is tentatively rescheduled for Monday, November 20th or Tuesday, November 21st. Once the date is approved and confirmed, I will include it in the weekly announcements.
SmartMusic
If you are emailing your child's SmartMusic passoffs to Mr. Scott, please make sure you include BOTH the .txt file which contains the score and the .jpg file with the green and red notes. Because the school email is sometimes delayed, it is always best to send a followup hard copy into the band room, especially at the end of the nine weeks (this week) to ensure that your child is properly credited. Do not send audio files -- just the text file and the jpeg file.
Holiday Pies & Seasonal Fruit Kickoff
The first fundraiser of the year that contributes to student accounts will kick off next Monday, October 23rd. Packets for both fundraisers will be sent home that day -- because the letter campaign was successful this year, 90% of the profits from these sales will go towards your student's account to be used for band fees and trip payments. Pie sales will run through Wednesday, Nov. 1st. No late orders on the pies -- we have to fax in our order by Thursday night in order to be guaranteed delivery prior to Thanksgiving. Fruit sales will run through Friday, Nov. 17th with delivery on Saturday, December 9th. Details about products and pricing also will be available on the website next week under 'Fundraising' on Tuesday.
Volunteer Call!!
We will need volunteers on Wednesday, Nov. 1st to verfiy and tally pie packets as they are turned in -- takes a couple of hours and starts first thing in the morning. 4 to 5 volunteers make quick work. We also need volunteers on Friday, Nov. 17th in the morning for the fruit packet verification and tally (4 - 5) and in the afternoon for pie delivery and pickup. The afternoon shifts are 1 - 3 pm, 3 - 5 pm, and 5 - 7 pm. Four people per shift would be great! If you can volunteer for any of these jobs, contact Tara Hyatt at fundraising@cariobands.org and THANKS!
News About BoxTops
The first turn-in for BoxTops has passed but don't stop collecting...there will be another turn-in time in the spring so keep those scissosrs handy and keep sending in your BoxTops. We have joined with the PTSA and will also be collecting Campbell's labels -- PTSA will be getting all the Campbell's labels and in exchange, we will get all the BoxTops the school collects -- a win-win for both of us! So send in your Campbells' labels too!
Practice Makes Perfect!
Mr. Scott asks that students be reminded that, even though practice charts do not have to be turned in, practice is still required. Students should be practicing at least 30 minutes 5 days a week -- the practice requirement did not go away -- just the charts! Please ensure that your child is doing this homework requirement.
Band Fees Due Again
Just a reminder that the $50 installment of band fees was due October 15th -- if you haven't sent in your payment yet, it's now due to lockbox in Mr. Scott's office or can be mailed to: Cario Band Boosters, 1121-B Park West Blvd., Box 224, Mt. Pleasant SC 29466. Thanks!
Not too long this week -- hope to see you around the band room!
