Announcements for the Week of March 31, 2008
Symphonic Band
This Friday April 4th (teacher work day) there will be a symphonic band clinic. Mr. Scott is working on getting the location changed to Wando so that the band can use the larger room and stage. Please watch your e-mail this week for updates. Attendance at this clinic is mandatory. A concert will follow the clinic. Your child will need to bring a sack lunch. A pizza dinner will be provided all participating students.
Symphonic Rehearsal Schedule
- Thursday, April 3rd, 7:15 am
- Monday, April 7th, 7:15am
- Wednesday, April 9th, 7:15am
Flower delivery
If you have ordered flowers, they will need to be picked up this Friday between 2pm at 6pm. Please, where possible, have your child remind their customers of the pick-up date and time.
Flower Delivery Change - Vincas
We have been notified that the Vincas are not going to be ready for delivery this Friday. They are going to be delivered on April 30th. Alison is contacting all customers to let them know of the change and we are making arrangements to deliver them directly to each customers door. If you would like to contact Alison directly about this, she can be reached at 884-0929.
Florida
There are many students who are planning to go to Florida with considerable outstanding balances. At this time, the outstanding balance should be no higher than $100. As of yesterday, there are only 33 students eligible to go to Florida (balances of $100 or less). Mr. Scott is considering canceling one of the buses if necessary. Also, depending on instrumentation, the Disney workshop may be affected. The trip NEEDS to be paid in full by April 18th so that the tickets can be ordered. No changes can be made after the tickets are purchased.
Florida Chaperones
Due to the still uncertain number of students going on the Florida trip, chaperone arrangements have not yet been made. I do have a list of everyone who has indicated an interest in chaperoning and we will be making those arrangements just as soon as possible.
Student Account Statements
Statements were e-mailed last night. It is important that you read the statement to be sure it is correct and make any necessary outstanding payments. Please note that the treasurers do not pick up payments on a daily basis due to their work schedules, so payments may not be immeditely posted. It may take up to a week or so for your payment to be applied so please take that into consideration when questioning recent payment that have been made (put into the payment box).
Concert Festival
Concert Festival (for Symphonic Band) is on Thursday, April 10th at Hanahan High School. Cario will warm up at 5pm and perform at approximately 5:30. The students will be going by bus right after school or near the end of the school day and be returning to school in the late evening.
Carowinds
There are a few seats available for the Carowinds trip but the seats are filling fast. The deposit of $40 (or the whole amount can be paid) should be turned in directly to Mr. Scott. As there are only 92 seats available for over 130 6th graders, the trip is on a first-come, first-served basis. Mr. Scott will keep a list based on the deposit turn-in date. Please remember that your child needs to have a grade average of 85 or higher to be eligible for the trip.
Volunteer Opportunities
- There is a need for band room volunteers. Please contact Karen at secretary@cariobands.org for more details if you interested in helping out.
- Volunteers needed to help with flower sorting and distribution this Friday, April 4th from 1pm to 6pm. Come for as long as you like. Parents and students are welcome to help. Contact Alison at fundraising@cariobands.org.
