Events Update
6th Grade New Band Family Breakfast
This event was a huge success!!!!
Welcome again to all of the new Band Families that attended. We hope you enjoyed it and hope it helped you gain some insights of things to come. We truly are a band family.
Many thanks to all of the Jazz Band members that worked so hard. You are appreciated. Also thank you to any and all that helped pull this function together.
If you get a chance please visit AppleBees and have dinner. Be sure to mention the breakfast and how great all of their people were.
Beach Sweep
In honor of our former Band Booster President, Nan Jenkins, we are going to participate in our annual beach sweep this weekend. This Saturday, September 20th, at 9:00 am, any band student/family can join in on the beach sweep.
We will meet at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island. Here are Directions. Fort Moultrie and Park Headquarters are both located at 1214 Middle Street on Sullivan's Island and are accessible by car.
From Mount Pleasant & US 17
- From US 17 follow the signs for SC 703 and Sullivan's Island.( SC703 is not the IOP connector. Its the other road to the Islands.)
- Take SC 703 to Sullivan's Island. ( Coleman Blvd. Turns into SC 703 at the Royal Ace Hardware intersection and becomes Ben Sawyer Blvd.)
- Cross the Intracoastal Waterway at the Ben Sawyer Bridge.
- Continue straight on Ben Sawyer Boulevard to Middle Street.
- Turn right at the stop sign onto Middle Street.
- The Fort Moultrie Visitor Center and parking is 1.5 miles away on Middle Street. The staff at Fort Moultrie wants all participants to bring the following items. Everyone should bring gloves, bug spray, shoes, water bottle and sunscreen. They will supply the bags. This is our first of four community service projects for this year. We hope to see you there!
Uniforms Update
All band students are required to have the appropriate band uniform for concert performances. "Students not in full concert attire will not be allowed to perform." (Handbook, pg. 8) Please refer to the Cario Band Handbook for specific information on uniform requirements and concert attendance (pg.7 and 8).
All 6th grade band students must purchase black uniform pants at Stagecoach. The pants must be special ordered as the store does not carry them in stock. The manager will place one order on Sept. 30. It is important that students be taken to the store to try on these pants to ensure a proper fit. Stagecoach accepts Greenbax. The cost of the pants is $17.99 and $19.99 for Husky sizes.
All 7th and 8th grade students were given uniform order forms. Please turn in forms and money by Friday, September 19. If you are not able to pay for the uniform by Friday or did not receive an order form, please contact Mary Dinda at 849-6801. The tux and dress orders will be placed this weekend to allow enough time to receive uniforms and make alterations or exchanges by the first concert in October. We will not place an order for any student without either an order form or payment.
If you have any questions please email Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org
Fundraising Update
Thank you to all who participated in the Letter Writing Campaign. We really appreciate it.
Magazine Sale continues through Tuesday, Sept. 23rd. Keep on selling!
We now have an iphone to give to the individual who sells 150 subscription or more!
And of course, don’t forget $100 cash to the top seller, $75 cash to 2nd place seller, and $50 cash to the 3rd place seller.
For every (3) subscriptions you sell, we will enter your name in a drawing for $25 cash!
Forms Update
There are still a lot of forms that have not yet been turned in. Also, I have received a lot of medical forms that have been turned in and have not been notarized. I do not have any way to get forms notarized. You will need to make sure that your form gets notarized and turned in. You should have already been notified from your child if you still have forms outstanding.. Banks will typically notarize a form free of charge for their customers. Please remember that any student that does not have all 5 forms completed (including notarization) will not be allowed to participate in any off campus performances.
Treasurer's Update
The initial $25 band deposit if not already paid is now past due. The second installment of $50 is due on Monday, September 22, 2008. We need to get these payments in as soon as possible as updated student account statements are due to be sent out soon. Please send these payments in with your child so they can put them in the drop box located in the band room. You can also mail it to Cario Band Boosters, 1121-B Park West Blvd., Box 224, Mount Pleasant, SC, 29466. This does not apply to those of you that have already paid your band fees ($175) in full.
