Announcements For September 25, 2008

I hope everyone is having a great school year so far. We are approaching a busy time of year so watch your announcements. If you are receiving this for the first time, prior band announcements are posted on the website.

Email Update

Please know that we are working diligently to make sure all email addresses that we have are included into and are functioning properly within the system. We are aware that there are some who are still not getting our emails and we will get this corrected as quickly as possible. If your still getting emails after a request to be removed we are working on your issue as well. Thank you for your patience.

Uniforms - Sixth Grade

The deadline for the sixth grade students to be fitted for black pants at Stagecoach is Tuesday, September 30, 2008. If you have not already visited Stagecoach, please be sure to go there this weekend (off of the IOP Connector between Target and Piggly Wiggly). Each sixth grade band student will need to have black pants from Stagecoach for the concerts and they are planning to submit the order next Tuesday. If you have any questions, please write to Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org. Please remember, All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are required to be in uniform. "Students not in full concert attire will not be allowed to perform" (Handbook, pg 8). Please note that these pants are not a standard stock item that are carried daily at Stagecoach. They are a special order item placed one time only by Stagecoach. The above deadline is not a deadline to go purchase the pants, but rather the last possible date for your child to be sized and included on the initial order. This initial order is the only order that will arrive in time for the bands first performances. Substituting a different brand of pants will not be allowed.

Uniforms - Seventh Grade and new Eighth Grade students

The 7th and 8th graders have been fitted for tuxes and dresses and the orders are being placed. If you have not already sent in your payment, please do so. No uniforms will be handed out without payment. No exceptions. If you have any questions, please write to Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org.

Low Country Invitational - Marching Band Competition

As part of the grade, students are required to attend outside band performances. A great opportunity to attend a performance as well as support the Wando Band is coming up on Saturday, October 4th at the Low Country Invitational (LCI). Several bands from the low country area will be performing at the Wando football stadium. Cario band students get free admission if they are wearing their Cario Bands t-shirt. In the event that the 6th grade t-shirts do not arrive in time, there is a ticket stub at the bottom of the attached Low Country Invitational flyer. The Representative from the Wando Band will be handing out the flyers to all of our students. In the event your 6th grader loses their copy, simply use the above link to download another. This is a great way to get one of the outside band performance requirements completed, as well as to see the fantastic Wando Band perform! Remember to save a program from the performance as this is a required "proof" of attendance that should be attached to the write-up. The Concert Evaluation Form can be found in the forms section of the Cario Bands Website.

Fundraising Update

QSP Magazine Fundraiser Update –

It’s not too late to turn in your order for qualification of prizes.  To qualify for prizes, turn in by Friday, 9/26/08.

However, you can still order online after Friday and our program still gets the credit and benefits from your orders.  So if you decide to order for gifts, please log in and specify Cario Band Boosters as your group.

Thank you to all who participated in this program!

Forms Update

Thank you to all of those who have turned in their forms!!! For those who have not, I will be like a bad rash. I will irritate you incessantly until you pay attention to me. I must have all 5 forms and the medical form must be notarized. To those who have had to duplicate forms and resend, I apologize, but this is essential for the protection of the students and the program.

Treasurer's Update

The initial $25 band deposit and the second installment of $50 are now past due. We need to get these payments in as soon as possible as our Treasurer is currently posting payments to individual student accounts and statements are due to be sent out soon. Please send these payments in with your child so they can put them in the drop box located in the band room. You can also mail it to Cario Band Boosters, 1121-B Park West Blvd., Box 224, Mount Pleasant, SC, 29466. This does not apply to those of you that have already paid your band fees ($175) in full.

Have a great weekend!
