Cario Band Bags for Sale
Cario Band Boosters will be ordering cinch bags, sport bags and garment bags with the Cario Bands logo. These bags are available for purchase by band students in all grades and their families. Ordering these bags is optional. However, we encourage students going on the band trips to consider purchasing a cinch bag. Students who will be performing will also need a garment bag to transport their band uniform while in transit to Florida. A garment bag will keep the uniform clean and wrinkle free. All students on the Florida trip will also need a carry-on bag with a change of clothes as their suitcases will be unavailable until the evening of the first day. The sport bag is the same bag used by Wando High band students. The Cario Bands logo will be embroidered on one side and the student’s name embroidered on the other. We will place only one order before the Florida trip, so don’t miss out! The deadline to order is February 6, 2009. NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!! Click here for more info and order form. Symphonic Rehearsal
Symphonic rehearsals are limited in time available, so please arrive and set up ready to play as quickly as possible on these mornings.

All-State Band
Congratulations to the band students who were called back to audition for the all-state band. Best wishes for a great audition this Saturday in Lexinton, SC. Audition times, instructions, and location/directions will be attached to this email, and are posted on the web site and in the classroom.
6th Grade Carowinds Trip
Plans are now being finalized for the 6th grade end of the year event. Please look for information coming soon.
Spring Fundraiser
The next (and last of the year) fundraiser will be starting on Thursday, January 29th. This year we will be selling flowers. The flowers will be from the same grower as last year and last year they were beautiful. There are several different varieties to choose from - for everyone from the experienced gardener to those with a "black thumb". This will be the last opportunity to earn funds for student accounts.
Community Service Project
The second community service project of the school year will be starting soon. It will focus on baby supplies for Low Country Orphan Relief. Start saving up any and all things baby. From pacifiers and blankets to clothes,diapers and wipes. One change this year... no edible items, to include formula. Watch for information to come home and be posted on the web site.
Box Tops and Campbell's labels
Don't forget to keep clipping those box tops and Campbell's labels.
For those who aren't aware, each box top is worth 10 cents to the band...in cash. When we send in box tops, we receive a check two times per year. Collecting box tops is an extremely easy way to get funding for the band...and it adds up quickly. For example, when I see a box top on a qualifying product that I have purchased, I simply cut it off of the product and toss it into a basket that I keep on my counter (you could keep one in your pantry, in a cabinet, etc). Then, every so often, I put a bunch into a baggie and send it into school. The band has "box tops moms" that trim and count the box tops and put them together to be mailed in. If every band student sent in only 40 box tops per year, the band would make over $1,000 just like that.
Practice Charts
Practice charts continue to be due each week. These are a part of your child's band grade! If your child is not practicing as they should, please encourage them to in order to earn a better grade in the class. But more importantly, to stay on track in band class so that our band can continue to be the best middle school band in the state....leading up to the best high school band in the state. If your child is practicing, it is important to follow through by signing and turning in the practice charts.
