Upcoming events

- Saturday, May 2rd - Solo and Ensemble, Fort Dorchestor High School - times will be posted on the web site and in the band room
- Friday, May 8th - Honors Concert - all bands - 7pm
- Monday- Wednesday, May 11, 12, 13 - Auditions for 8th graders going to Wando Band to be held in the Cario Band room
- Thursday, May 14th, Wando Band Spring Concert, Wando Performing Arts Center at 7:30pm
- Thursday, May 21th, Mouth piece testing for rising 6th graders. To be held in the Cario Band room
- Thursday, May 21th, Wando Band Orientation for 8th Grade students held at Wando at 7pm
- Thursday and Friday, May 21st and 22nd, final lollipop sale, Cario cafeteria lobby, during lunch periods
- Monday, May 25th - Memorial Day- School closed
- Friday, May 29th -Carowinds for 6th graders
- Thursday, June 4th - Early Dismissal
- Friday, June 5th - Early Dismissal, Last School day for students
- Friday, June 5th - Beach Bash at IOP County Park for all band families from 2pm - 6pm, more info to follow
Requirements for Honor Band
The deadline for all Honor Band line pass off requirements is this Friday, May 1, 2009. You may still be eligible for 7th grade advanced band by getting your lines passed of by May 22, 2009.
Carowinds Update
We have updated the trip roster, and posted it in the band room. Children on the trip roster with an asterisk by their name have been removed from the trip list and placed on the waiting list. In order to be placed back on the roster, you must contact the trip coordinator, Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org, and resolve any issues. The deadline to resolve all issues is this Friday, May 1, 2009. We will be purchasing tickets on Monday morning. If the the child is listed as CONFIRMED, then no action is needed. Please check the band homepage for the link to Carowinds information.
- We have a limited number of Cario Band "cinch" bags for sale. These lightweight backpack type string bags came in very handy on the Florida trip. If you would like to purchase one please contact Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org.
Solo and Ensemble
Solo and Ensemble is this Saturday!!!!!!!!! Those band students who have signed up need to be working on their scales, solos and sight reading. You should be consistently practicing your music NOW! Everyday!! Please note that each student must have an original copy of his or her music in order to perform. . Each student receives an individual time to perform and these times should be posted in the band room today. Ask your child about his or her individual time. The location for Solo and Ensemble is shown below for mapquesting.

Fundraising
Our order of Vincas is still not ready. We are in contact with the nursery daily and will keep you posted as soon as we know more.

Mouthpiece testing
The mouthpiece testing for the rising 6th graders (currently in the 5th grade) is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 21st. If you currently have a 5th grader who will be joining band next year, or know of one, please come to the mouthpiece testing.
Wando Marching Band Auditions
******Cario students will have Wando band auditions on Monday, May 11,12,13, 2009. Mr. Rush will be coming to the band room at Cario for these 3 days. To prepare for these auditions, the kids should be practicing their scales, sight reading, and their Wando audition solos (which they already have).
For those students who will be moving on to the Wando Marching Band this summer, The Wando band has posted the summer rehearsal schedule on their band web site for help in planning summer vacations. It is extremely important to attend all of the listed rehearsals, so please try to schedule vacations around them. We are currently calling for help from our band family. If you would like to serve on the Board of Directors for the Bands of Cario for the 2009/10 school year, please send your name and/or any questions to me at president@cariobands.org. We look forward to hearing from you! You are not committed or obligated to anything just by emailing your questions! The offices available are : President, Vice President (President in training), Treasurer, Fundraising, Secretary, Volunteer Coordinator, Hospitality and Events, Uniforms/Trip Coordinator, and Community Service Coordinator. The greatest of all things you can give your child is your time. We need you!
