Mr. McGrew wants all of the up and coming percussionists to visit his blog page. http://seanmcgrew.edublogs.org. When you get there you need to do the following. This site will be your main source of information regarding Percussion at Wando.
- Review the Summer Percussion Schedule that is posted here.
- Leave a comment about the Summer Schedule Message so he knows you have read it. Be sure to leave your name.
- If you have any questions, feel free to contact him at 735-9000. This number should be put in your phone starting now.
Carowinds Update
- The trip will be on Friday, May 29, 2009.
- The Chaperones need to arrive at the school at 6:15am.
- The Busses will pull out at 6:45 sharp so all students traveling should be there by at least 6:20 am.
- The Busses will return at 12:00am for student pickup. Please be on time for pick up. Please be respectful of the band staff and parent volunteers as it will have been a long day.
Here are some things to think about when packing for the trip. The Cario string bags come in handy for just this type of occasion. We will have some extra for sale in the morning. They are $7.50 and you will need to bring the exact amount as we will not be able to make change.
- You must wear your uniform. It is; Carowinds shirt, khaki pants, white socks and tennis shoes.
- Eat something before you come because we will not be eating until 12:30. Lunch will be provided and the kids will have an all day unlimited soda wristband.
- Your child will need to bring $10 in an envelope to pay for dinner. These will be collected and redistributed at the dinner check in. (6:00pm)
- No flip flops allowed! Wear white socks and tennis shoes. (bring an extra pair of socks to change into)
- Bring a pillow and blanket for the ride up and back.
- Bring a change of clothes for the ride home if you think you might get wet. (take into the park so you can change just before we leave.)
- Bring a watch so that you won't miss any chaperone check ins.(6:00pm and 8:00pm)
- You are allowed dry snacks and bottled water with a screw top on the bus. No candy or gum.
- Cell phones are allowed. Please put them in a zip lock baggie for water rides.
- Ipods and mp3 players are allowed with ear buds only. No other electronic devices are allowed.
- Lockers are available for about $10 inside the park so you won't have to take everything everywhere
- Keep spending money to a reasonable amount and on your person at all times.
- The busses are equipped with DVD systems. You can bring a DVD to watch if it is rated G or PG only. Be sure to put your name on it. No personal DVD players will be allowed.
Thank you so much for those of you who made the last minute dash to get the medical forms signed. We will take them tomorrow at the busses if you haven't gotten them in.
Beach Bash Update
The year end BEACH BASH is approaching and we would love to see all of you come out and enjoy a day at the beach. The Cario Band Boosters will be sponsoring the event and it will be catered by MOE'S. The registration form has been handed out. Please read it carefully because the RSVP for this event will be your ticket to eat at the function. There are still copies available in the band room and we will still be accepting forms until Monday, June 1, 2009. Only those that RSVP for the bash will have food ordered for them and we will go by that list when serving. Please come join the fun.
Note from the Boosters
There are some of you that have past due band fees. The treasurer is currently compiling a list of these students with amounts due. You will soon be notified with a "Statement of Financial Responsibility" with your past due amount. Once notified, a copy of these statements will be turned over to the Cario bookkeeper for further action and collection.
Enjoy the Warmer Weather,
Betsy
