Announcements For September 30, 2009
Thanks to all who participated in the QSP Magazine fundraiser! It greatly benefits the entire band program. There will be more information regarding upcoming fundraisers in the next few weeks.
Lowcountry Invitational
The Lowcountry Invitational Marching Band Festival (LCI) this Saturday, October 3rd at the Wando H.S. football stadium. As part of their grade, students are required to attend two outside band performances per semester. LCI is a great opportunity to get one of those performance requirements completed, as well as see the four time State Champion Wando Marching Band perform! Remember to save a program from the performance, as this is a required "proof" of attendance that should be attached to the write-up. The Concert Evaluation Form can be found in the Forms section of the Cario Bands Website. Seventeen marching bands from the lowcountry area and beyond will be performing, so bring your friends and family. You can use the sample email to send out your invitations. Cario band students get free admission if they are wearing their Cario Bands t-shirt. T-Shirts will be distributed to 6th & 7th graders on Friday, Oct. 2nd. See the LCI flyer for more details. Please note, there is a dinner break from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and no bands will be performing during this time. Wando, as hosts of the competition, will be the last to perform.
8th Grade Students
If you have signed up to volunteer at LCI, please remember to report for the shift you signed up for. You must wear your Cario Band t-shirt. This will get you free admission to LCI.
Uniforms - 6th Grade
Thanks to all of you who have gone to Stagecoach to order the uniform pants for your 6th grader. The deadline to order pants is Saturday, October 3rd. We strongly recommend that you take your child to the store to be fitted, as the pants sizes may not coincide with your child’s regular size. Parents are responsible for payment at the store. Stagecoach accepts Greenbax to help reduce the cost of the pants. Stagecoach will make one order at the beginning of October. Mrs. Dinda will deliver the pants and the polo’s together to the students in class in November. Please remember, students are required to be in uniform for concert performances. Please note that these pants are not a standard stock item that are carried daily at Stagecoach. They are a special order item placed one time only by Stagecoach for Cario Band.
Treasurer's Update
Student account statements will be sent out to families by this Friday. This year we are using a different computer system to prepare our statements and they will look different from statements sent in previous years. Please read the statement and accompanying description carefully. If you have questions, please contact treasurer@cariobands.org. The initial $25 band deposit and the first installment of $50 are now past due. The second installment of $50 will be due on Friday, October 30, 2009. If you are past due, please send these payments in with your child so they can put them in the lock box located in the Mr. Scott's office. You can also mail it to Cario Band Boosters, 1121-B Park West Blvd., Box 224, Mount Pleasant, SC, 29466. This does not apply to those of you that have already paid your band fees ($175) in full.
SmartMusic
SmartMusic cd's will be handed out in class tomorrow. They will be in an envelope with your student's name on it and will contain the cd, instructions on how to activate your subscription, and system requirements. Please follow the onscreen instructions carefully. After you have activated your subscription, we recommend viewing some of the instructional videos to help your student get started on SmartMusic.
BoxTops 4 Education
A reminder that we are continuing to collect BoxTops. Eligible BoxTops can be found on Pillsbury & Yoplait products, ChexMix, PopSecret, Old El Paso products, Ziploc, Cottonelle, Scott, and Kleenex products.
