New and Notable!

Concert update per Mr. Scott. The October 30, 2008 concert has been cancelled. The November 18, 2008 concert will be held as scheduled with the Jazz band performing. Other bands may be added by Mr. Scott. We will keep you updated as the information becomes available.

Concert Opportunity! The Wando Band will perform at the State Competition in Orangeburg. This Saturday, November 1st, the Wando Marching Band will be performing in the state competition at SC State College in Orangeburg. Prelims are at 3:45pm. This is a great way to support the high school band and give your child an opportunity to see what it is like to perform in the Wando Marching Band. For additional information, please see the Wando Bands website at wandobands.org.

All County and All Region band registration forms have been handed out and need to be returned to Mr. Scott ASAP. Be on the look out for them. Check the Web site as there will be a link to the form so you can download it if necessary.

7th and 8th grade band members who used Margo Gray for hemming and alterations, should check with her directly on when you can expect the work to be completed.  She can be reached at 884-0399.    Question? Please contact Mary Dinda at 843-849-6801 or at uniforms@cariobands.org .

Practice Charts

The Second nine weeks has begun. As such, each student in every band level is now required to be enrolled onto Smart Music and using Smart Music Impact to submit assignments to Mr. Scott. Please note that the assignments are time sensitive and when a deadline is reached the student will no longer be able to access that assignment, thus receiving a zero. Your child is now being graded on whether or not weekly practice charts are being turned in detailing the required amount of practice he or she has done that week. Please be aware that a parent's signature is required on each sheet that is turned in. It is each child's responsibility to get these signed and turned in every Friday. As a reminder, with the new nine weeks comes the upgrade for the 6th grade Woodwinds and Brass. Who are now required to practice a minimum of 150 minutes per week just like the 7th and 8th grade bands.

Florida Trip Info

The Trip is ON! Attention 7th and 8th grade band parents and students. The Symphonic Band will be playing in a competition in Florida. The trip is open to all 7th and 8th grade band members who want to go and who meet the eligibility requirements stated in the handbook. The trip will be March 26-29. Please note that this is the day after Concert Festival. We will have cost information out to you as soon as possible. We are shopping around for the best rates so that the overall costs stay as low as possible. For those students that are in both band and chorus, we don't think there should be any conflict if you are going on both trips. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

BoxTops and Campbell's Labels

The BoxTops have been streaming in so thank you. We have joined with the PTSA and will also be collecting Campbell's labels -- PTSA will be getting all the Campbell's labels and in exchange, we will get all the BoxTops the school collects -- a win-win for both of us! So send in your Campbell's' labels too!

Have a great week!
