Announcements For November 18, 2009

Pie Pick Up

Today, November 18th is Pie Pick Up day! Please remember to come pick up the pies you sold so you can get them to your customers. Pick-up will be at Brickyard Plantation clubhouse from 3-6:30 p.m. Brickyard Plantation is located at Hwy 17N and Hamlin Rd. After you turn into Brickyard, take your very first right hand turn and you will see the clubhouse. We have no storage facilities there, so please be sure to get your pies.

There will be some pies available for sale after all pre-ordered pies have been picked up. If you are interested in purchasing additional pies, please contact Kim Brower at fundraising@cariobands.org to find out what is available and make arrangements to get them at another time.

Last chance to get your Fruit order in! Please send it in by Thursday, November 19th.

Uniform Update

Sixth & Seventh Grade

If you were not able to pick up your uniform at the concert, you can pick it up along with your pies at Brickyard clubhouse. See above for directions and time.

Seventh & Eighth Grade

It is not too late to participate in the Uniform Rental Program. Even if you have picked up your uniform, you can still fill out the Rental Agreement and send it in. Your student's account will be adjusted accordingly. If you choose to purchase the uniform, you will see a charge for the full cost of the uniform and your payment on your student's account statement. The uniform is then yours to keep. If you want to rent the uniform, send in the Rental Agreement and your account will be credited the purchase cost of the uniform and charged the $15 rental fee. You will then return the uniform at the end of the school year.

If your student is in eighth grade and already has a uniform, you can still participate and take advantage of swapping out uniform pieces that your student has outgrown. Please contact Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org for more details.

Alterations for all Grades

As a courtesy, the seamstress, Tami Mahan, will be available at the band room Wednesday, Novermber  18 and Thursday, November 19 right after school until 5:30 pm.  Students requesting alterations should have their uniforms and the shoes they will be wearing with the uniform.  If a parent cannot be there, please write a note explaining what alterations the uniform needs.  Payments will be made directly to Mrs. Mahan.  Questions regarding alterations should be directed to Mrs. Mahan.  Her email address is etmahan@bellsouth.net and her phone numbers are 971-7019 (h) and 270-2821 (c).

Practice Charts

Please be sure your student is practicing the required amount of time weekly (120 minutes for all grades) and properly filling out the practice chart with material practiced, time spent practicing and a parent signature. Here's the tricky part, they have to remember to turn it in! This constitutes the homework grade for the class and missed practice charts can quickly lower the band grade.

Community Service Coat Drive

The community service Coat Drive still has a few more days to go so get in that closet and clear out your outgrown coats and jackets for children size 6 - 16/18. A collection box is located outside of the band room. All donations benefit Lowcountry Orphan Relief. The coat drive is ongoing until Friday, November 20th.
